Ten on Tuesday!

I appreciate those bloggers committed to NaBloPoMo.  While not every single post is groundbreaking or the best.post.ever, I appreciate the commitment to writing or sharing some sort of content every single day.  That’s a serious undertaking for sure!

I also really appreciate programs like Ten on Tuesday, because not only do I love reading responses from others, it gets me to write about something.  Anything.

Another reason I really love those things?  It’s not another freaking sponsored review about some product we all need to buy for Christmas.  This isn’t something I’ve really seen in personal blogs, but the more so on the “big” blogs.  I read them for the information they provide.  I love them because I learn something.  What I don’t want to see, several times a day in my reader, is another stupid commercial of sorts for some product or company that basically paid for that space.  I get that these blogs cost money to maintain, and that they’re the jobs of those running them and they gots ta get paid…. I think I’m just overly sensitive right now because since it’s Christmas time, there are so many ads every where I look.  Anyway – on to Ten on Tuesday!

1. Where are you from? Have you lived there your whole life?

Historical Rockets and the Space and Rocket Center

I was born in Huntsville, Alabama, and have lived here my whole life.  Huntsville’s nickname is “The Rocket City”.  After WWII, the US government made a deal with German rocket scientists to come to the United States and design rockets for our space exploration program.  The CIA created new papers for the scientists and their families, and they landed at a little Army installation, Redstone Arsenal.  The Saturn V rocket, the one that propelled us to the moon, was designed here.

I love my little town.  It’s big enough to have some decent stores and a small music and art scene, but small enough to not really have traffic problems, or be too big to get around.

2. How would you classify your clothing style?

Uh, I’m not sure I even have style.  Relaxed and maybe slightly quirky?

3. What kind of car do you drive?

I drive a 2007 Nissan Versa.  I love her.

4. What would your dream home look like if you could have it (or already do!)?

It’s a toss-up between 3 styles. A cute little farmhouse with a wrap-around porch.  A mid-century modern rancher, especially a Joseph Eichler, like this one or this one.  Check out this Flickr set, too! Or an early 20th century bungalow.  But really, I wouldn’t change where we live now.  I’m learning to love our floor plan, even though it’s not “perfect”.  This is our home, and it’s slowly but surely becoming “ours”.  And that’s really all I want from a “dream” house.

5. Do you have kids, and if so, how many and how old were you when you had them?

We have one little boy.  He is almost 4 months old.  I am 27 and Chris is 28 years old.

6. What is your favorite hobby?

Creating things.  I miss my yarn.

7. Are you going to have any New Year’s resolutions for 2011?

I’m going to have some goals for the year, yes.  Will I call them “resolutions”.  Probably not.

8. What is something, if anything, that you’d want to change about yourself?

I think I would be a little more confident and outgoing.  Oh, and I’d change my sensitive stomach/digestion.

9. What is something that you love about yourself?

I love that I care a lot (maybe too much). And most of what makes me a pisces.

10. Pick one of the following: Someone to cook for you, someone to do your laundry, or someone to do your dishes.

Most definitely someone to do my dishes.

I really, really hope we get to write our resolutions or intentions together this year – even if it’s a couple of days before NYE. Fingers crossed and sacrifices offered to the standby gods? Check. Love you.
