Fortuna favet fortibus – an old Latin saying that means “fortune favors the brave”.
I’ve done two very crazy, and probably brave things, this week.
I wrote about one already, applying to graduate school for a Masters in Library Science. The second is probably even more outside my comfort zone.
I registered and paid for a 5k – I’m running with some friends in the Birmingham Color Run. I’m only SLIGHTLY nervous.
The run is on Labor day, so I have plenty of time to train. But this is so far outside my comfort zone I don’t even know who I am anymore.

Oh my gosh, this is exciting. (I mean, applying to grad school is ALSO exciting, but somehow I missed that, so I’m commenting on the one about the 5k.) 🙂
You will be AWESOME. It will get in your comfort zone SO FAST. 🙂 I’m an email away if you need any help/nice words/etc. Wish I could cheer you on in person, but I’m cheering you from here- PROMISE! 🙂
Hooray! Those both sound like really great things. I’m not sure if you’ve ever run a 5K before, but let me assure you that The Color Run is a great one to start with – – it is soooo low-key. They don’t even time it! I’m running it again this weekend (woo!) and I’m really looking forward to it.
Hooray for you!! I want to do the Color Run too. Some friends and I just signed up for the 5k Foam Fest in Nashville…which is a MONTH from today. EEK!
Oh, wow! I am so excited for you!!
A fun 5K seems perfect for a first race (I’m assuming it’s your first, but perhaps it is not!). Lots of new runners will probably be there!
Oh how exciting to both of these new endeavors! You will have so much fun at the Color Run! I think it’s the perfect first race for you. You will love it and the feeling of accomplishment after your first 5k is indescribable. So proud of you.
